Dune: Awakening Beginner Guide (First Steps)

New to Dune: Awakening? The opening loop explained: choose your World (it defines your economy), survive the first hours, understand Solari and the Exchange, and respect the Tuesday Deep Desert reset.

Step 0: the World is your community

Before anything else, choose your World carefully. Worlds group at least 20 Sietch instances, and your Exchange market, Deep Desert rotation and player base are all per-World. Pick by friends, language and population — changing later means a separate economy footprint.

The opening loop

The core loop is survival-crafting inside a persistent world: gather resources, build and upgrade, salvage for Schematics, then trade what you don't need on the Exchange. Solari is earned in gameplay and spent on player listings — there are no NPC shops.

Respect the weekly rhythm

Every Tuesday the Deep Desert wipes (sandstorm builds 8–10 hours, wipe at storm peak). The 81-cell grid (A1–I9) resets its valuable spawns, Mk6 schematic pool and resource nodes. Anything you planned in contested zones should be scheduled around that reset — this site's Deep Desert page tracks each week.

Console-specific first checks

On console: your Worlds are separate from PC (only Xbox ↔ Windows PC store share progression). Free self-hosting is PC-only; private console servers are Nitrado. Patch on launch day — hotfixes landed September 19, 21 and 22.

Frequently asked questions

What is the most important first decision in Dune: Awakening?

Your World. It defines who you play with, your Exchange market prices, and your Deep Desert rotation — all three are World-specific.

How do I make Solari early?

Earn it in gameplay, then sell surplus items on the Exchange (list at Arrakeen or Harko Village, 20-offer cap, 20 Solari/day listing fee). There are no NPC buyers.
