Base Location Tips for Dune: Awakening

Where to build in Dune: Awakening: weigh the Tuesday Deep Desert wipe against PvE vs PvP rows (A–E safe, F–I 2.5x), travel time to Exchange terminals, and supply lines.

The Deep Desert wipe changes everything

Base location is a weekly decision, not a permanent one: every Tuesday the Deep Desert wipes (sandstorm builds 8–10 hours, wipe at storm peak) and its 81 cells reset. Anything built in the contested interior is exposed to the reset rhythm; the safe anchor is the Shield Wall line along rows A/B.

PvE vs PvP positioning

Rows A–E are PvE zones — build there for uncontested farming. Rows F–I are PvP zones with 2.5x output — build there only if you can defend it and only if you schedule around the weekly wipe. Most solo players are better off PvE-side with a forward PvP outpost if needed.

Economy logistics

Two Exchange terminals exist — Arrakeen and Harko Village — and listing requires you to be physically at the terminal. A base far from both means every trade run is a trip; factor travel time into your location choice, and remember the Exchange is World-wide so your market does not care where in the World you build — only you do.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to build in the Deep Desert?

Only with the weekly reset in mind: the Deep Desert wipes every Tuesday. PvE rows A–E are uncontested; PvP rows F–I pay 2.5x but require defense and reset scheduling.

Should I build near the Exchange terminals?

Exchange listings require you to be at Arrakeen or Harko Village, so travel time to those terminals is a real logistics cost — especially if you trade often.
